The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) highlighted the urgency of delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals. We engaged with three key events:
From Nice to New York: Activating the High Seas Treaty
Blue Marine co-hosted this event along with the governments of Belgium, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Chile, France, the European Union and Palau, in partnership with NRDC, Bloomberg Ocean Initiative, Arcadia, Blue Nature Alliance, Minderoo Foundation, Oceans5, Oceano Azul Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts and High Seas Alliance.
This gathering celebrated the imminent entry into force of the High Seas Treaty. You can view the highlights video of the event here.
Juan Fernández MPA event
We co-organised an event alongside Pew, where members of the Juan Fernández MPA presented their work on the MPA expansion and fisheries management plan.
Our Antarctica Roundtable Discussion: why new industrial threats to the ecosystem must be challenged
We participated in a roundtable attended by policymakers, ocean leaders, scientists, high-profile Antarctic Avengers and members of the NGO community. Participants oppose the krill fishing industry’s campaign to increase its quota at the October 2025 CCAMLR meeting.
