Blue Marine Foundation welcomes the landmark ruling in favour of Sussex Wildlife Trust, which successfully challenged the Marine Management Organisation’s decision to permit the disposal of dredged material within a Marine Protected Area.
Blue Marine lent its support to the Sussex Wildlife Trust’s case and submitted a robust response when the MMO consulted on the licence. This important victory reinforces that Marine Protected Areas must live up to their name — not exist only on paper.
We congratulate Sussex Wildlife Trust and all those who stood up for the Sussex seabed. Marine protection must mean real protection.
