WILDLABS introduced the first International Conservation Technology Conference (ICTC) in 2026. Conservation technology has advanced rapidly over the past decade, unlocking new ways to protect and understand our changing ecosystems. There has been a growing need for a dedicated space for the sector to come together and chart the way forward.
Blue Marine Foundation hosted a workshop alongside the event on 17 February: ‘The MPA Technology Workshop: Channelling conservation technology into marine protected area design and management‘.
The workshop brought together over 70 participants, including marine protected area specialists and conservation technology experts to explore how we can embed technology into MPA design and management. This included 30 of Blue Marine’s project partners from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event identified the real world challenges and constraints restricting the integration of technology into MPAs while also highlighting opportunities and strategies going forward. It also provided an excellent and valuable space for knowledge sharing and collaboration between MPA and technology sectors.
