Namibia’s Ocean Literacy Toolkit

Blue Education worked closely with our partners in Namibia to co-develop a resource to help teachers integrate contextualised ocean case studies, marine heritage and marine science into the Namibian curriculum.

In collaboration with our partners at the Namibia Nature Foundation and the NIMPA+ Project we co-developed the Namibian Ocean Literacy Toolkit, a ground-breaking learning resource designed to expand ocean education across the country.

Created in collaboration with our consortium partners, the toolkit, framed by UNESCO’s 7 Ocean Literacy Principles, aims to expand ocean education in Namibia using topical case studies and engaging activities.

The resource launches following a collaborative workshop attended by teachers, representatives from the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET), Eduventures. The group reviewed the toolkit which is the product of their original input in scoping workshops that took place one year earlier.

The group told us that they felt proud to have had such an influential role in the development of an important learning resource for promoting a deep connectivity and understanding across Namibia for their oceans.
