What’s included?
The platform hosts nine learning modules, each featuring:
- An animated video
- An infographic
- A quiz
Topics cover habitats, interconnected ecosystems, reef fish biology, life cycles, sustainable fishing, overfishing, responsible tourism, nitrogen pollution, climate change, seagrass and sharks. A new module on mangrove conservation is coming soon.
Flexibility
Each module provides research‑ready content – ideal for student-led projects, presentations and enquiry‑based tasks. Teachers can also use the visual resources and quizzes to support classroom lessons in Science and Geography.
The bigger picture
Since launching in 2023, Masmahaa Veshi has received strong support from the Maldivian ministries of Environment and Education. Masmahaa Veshi is being used at fisher association meetings and the Maldives Marine Expo to help communities better understand local marine conservation. The MRR team is now developing a schools outreach programme, beginning on Laamu Atoll.
