Masmahaa Veshi - The Maldives' E-Learning Platform

In 2023, Blue Marine and Maldives Resilient Reefs (MRR) launched Masmahaa-Veshi. This e-learning programme explores the marine environment of the Maldives and the website hosts nine learning modules, each encompassing infographics, an animated video and a quiz.

Topics include reef fish biology, sustainable fishing, responsible tourism, climate change and the nitrogen cycle. We will soon be releasing a new module on the importance of mangrove conservation. The site has already been used at fisher association meetings and the Maldives Marine Expo.

The Maldivian ministries of Environment and Education have both given positive feedback and are keen to support the project at national level. The MRR team are focussing on a schools outreach programme, starting on Laamu Atoll.
