What’s included?
The programme includes a wide range of curriculum‑linked teaching materials, including:

  • Live lessons that connect students with scientists and real‑time ocean and climate research
  • Lesson plans and classroom activities tailored for different key stages
  • Digital resources and interactives explaining climate change, blue carbon, the carbon cycle and the ocean’s role in storing carbon
  • Teacher CPD, including a dedicated session on how to teach the carbon cycle.

Younger students begin with playful activities that introduce how climate changes over time and how humans affect those changes. Older students explore more complex ideas such as human impacts on the carbon cycle, carbon stories and climate fluctuations.

The bigger picture
The Convex Seascape Survey is a five‑year global research project that investigates how the ocean’s seabed stores carbon and how healthy coastal seas can help combat climate change. The programme helps students understand both sides of the story: how the ocean is being affected by climate change, and how ocean science and conservation can form a vital part of global climate solutions. By connecting classroom learning directly to active research, it aims to spark curiosity, build scientific understanding and inspire the next generation of ocean problem‑solvers.
