The Blue Marine Foundation collaborated with Helena Bonham Carter and Unseen Studio to launch The Sea We Breathe, a VR educational tool debuting at Earlsfield Primary. Narrated by Bonham Carter, it immerses students in three critical marine habitats, open ocean, kelp forests, and seagrass meadows, to illustrate the ocean’s vital role as a “blue carbon” store mitigating climate change. Blue Marine’s educational director emphasises that VR’s immersive experience fosters ecological empathy and behavioural change among young learners. Soon to be available in over 800 UK schools, this initiative aims to shape tomorrow’s decision-makers by deepening their understanding of ocean-climate connections.
