The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the largest event for discussions and negotiations on climate change. COP30 focused on reducing emissions and implementing commitments. Blue Marine co-organised three events:

‘Tides of Transformation: Equitable Coastal Climate Solutions’ – 17 November, 11-12 pm. Thematic Hub, Axis Room 2

A roundtable exploring how inclusive and equitable coastal solutions – from mangrove to saltmarsh restoration – are transforming ambition into action, driving climate resilience across ocean-climate governance. Participants discussed challenges and actions to accelerate solutions as countries continue to implement their NDC commitments.

Co-organisers: The Saltmarsh Breakthrough (WWF-UK, UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology), The Pew Charitable Trusts, Feminist Action for Climate Justice Action Coalition, The Mangrove Breakthrough and SHE Changes Ocean.

Speakers: Maddie Millington-Drake, Blue Marine’s Senior Climate Manager.

‘Mission to Marsh: Integrating Saltmarshes into Coastal Resilience and Climate Action’ – 18 November 14.00-15.30 pm. UK Pavilion Blue Zone

Saltmarshes remain among the world’s most overlooked nature-based climate solutions, despite their clear benefits for mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity.  Many countries still lack the institutional capacity and data to integrate saltmarshes into their climate policies and frameworks. This session highlighted international examples of saltmarsh restoration, conservation, and policy innovation, showcasing how these ecosystems can deliver for people, nature, and climate.

Co-organisers: WWF, UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, Defra, Marrakesh Partnership.

Speaker and Moderator: Maddie Millington-Drake.
