The Solent Seascape Project’s artist in residence and Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, Richard Walters, performed his new EP ‘Songs From the Solent’ live at the Square Tower in Portsmouth on 11 February.

The album is made up of eight songs inspired by the people and places of the Solent. The tracks feature the sounds of nature and voices of those that live, work and play there. Richard visited the Solent Seascape Project’s restoration sites as well as popular coastal landmarks, gathering field recordings of wildlife, the seascape and visitors.

Richard’s live performance featured introductions to each song from Louise MacCallum, Blue Marine’s Solent Project Manager. Meg Linford, a singer from Portsmouth who collaborated on the track ‘Sea Sisters’ also made a guest appearance during the performance.

You can listen to the EP on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Bandcamp. 25 per cent of all proceeds from downloads go towards the Solent Seascape Project.
