Marine Life

At Blue Marine, we work in locations around the world to protect some of the ocean’s most fascinating and vulnerable life forms. From rays and dolphins in the Mediterranean to the kelp forests that help to filter UK coastal waters, every project we support is a window into a different part of our ocean and the marine life its sustains.

Habitat degradation has threatened many species. Blue Marine’s work combines science, local partnerships, and advocacy to promote sustainable solutions that help marine life thrive again.

For the UK’s native oysters, vital for clean water and coastal biodiversity, it’s the restoration of their key habitats. These small shellfish are quiet heroes, filtering the sea and creating nurseries for fish and other marine life. Through community science and the creation of new reefs, we’re helping oyster populations to rebound.

Each project reflects a unique challenge, and a unique opportunity to make a difference. In remote St Helena we help track and protect whale sharks. Here the presence of equal numbers of mature males and females suggests that the island’s marine protected area is not only a feeding location, but also a breeding ground.

Whether you’re a curious ocean lover, an aspiring marine biologist, or someone looking to support real conservation impact, in the work of Blue Marine there’s a story for you.
