Restoration work in Langstone Harbour, Hampshire, has helped lead to a ‘bumper breeding season’ for bird species in decline, including black-headed gulls and common terns. Havant Borough Council raised and reshaped lagoon islands earlier this year, work that ensured that a tidal surge in May did not wash nests away. Blue Marine’s Restoration Science Manager, Dr Luke Helmer, expressed his ambition to the BBC for the area to become a hub for native oyster restoration.
