Calls for greater transparency over who benefits from UK fishing quota have intensified following the publication of a new coalition report highlighting systemic gaps in fisheries governance.
Dr Tom Appleby, Head of Legal Affairs at Blue Marine Foundation, said the findings underling long-standing concerns that current disclosure systems fail to clearly identify who profits from the exploitation of UK fishing resources.
“We have long campaigned for more openness and transparency about who benefits from UK fisheries and the exploitation of this national natural resource which is Crown property.”
