Blue Marine Foundation is on a mission to ensure 30 per cent of the world’s ocean is under effective protection by 2030 and to see the sustainable management of the whole ocean. We work in partnership to effectively deliver marine conservation and restoration solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis. At the heart of our work and integral to its success is community engagement. This is made possible through Blue Marine’s specialised education unit ‘Blue Education’ which was set up to connect people with the ocean. We want to educate and inspire people of all ages to become ocean advocates. We work closely with our partners in specific locations to develop relevant, needed and engaging education resources to complement and bolster the conservation aim of the project. It is well known that conservation efforts are more successful with local community input, support and understanding. Blue Education is working at Blue Marine project sites to create hands-on education programmes designed specifically to maximise benefits for local communities and to increase the impact and long-term sustainability of conservation work.
