“The Scottish Government itself has acknowledged that one of the biggest impacts to seabed habitats is from bottom trawling and dredging, and have acknowledged that that type of fishing needs to be managed.
“So we’re glad that the consultation is now being published, but we are really starting off from the back foot in terms of the bare minimum requirement of management of fisheries.”
The hope now is that the government will put in place the most ambitious measures to protect our seas for future generations.
