Blue Marine Foundation played a pivotal role in shaping plans for a Jersey Marine Park by supporting proposals to expand Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) from just 6.4% to around 30% of the island’s waters. Jersey’s Environment Minister Jonathan Renouf is expected to submit legislation by the end of 2023 to launch the Marine Park, underpinned by a Marine Spatial Plan. Blue Marine’s project manager, Freddie Watson, advocated that the proposed MPA network could form the foundation of a marine park.
